In cadrul manifestarilor legate de arhitectura parametrica si algoritmica domnul Neil Leach va sustine o conferinta in Sala Frescelor a UAUIM marti 18 mai 2010, ora 1230.
Neil Leach este arhitect, curator si teoretician. A predat la unele dintre cele mai prestigioase scoli de arhitectura din lume precum SCI-Arc, Architectural Association,Columbia GSAPP, Cornell University, Dessau Institute of Architecture, IaaC, London Consortium , Royal Danish School of Fine Arts, ESARQ, University of Nottingham,University of Bath si University of Brighton..
Acestea includ: Rethinking Architecture: A Reader in Cultural Theory (Routledge, 1997); The Anaesthetics of Architecture (MIT Press, 1999); Millennium Culture (Ellipsis, 1999); Architecture and Revolution: Contemporary Perspectives on Central and Eastern Europe (Routledge, 1999); The Hieroglyphics of Space: Reading and Experiencing the Modern Metropolis (Routledge, 2002), China (Map Office, 2004) and Camouflage (MIT Press, 2006).
Cel de-al doilea subiect abordat de Neil Leach este cel al arhitecturii digitale, unde a publicat numeroase volume si este co-curator al unor expozitii dedicate, incluzand Designing for a Digital World (Wiley, 2002), Digital Tectonics (Wiley, 2004) and Digital Cities (Wiley, 2009), precum si expozitiile Fast Forward>> exhibition at the Architecture Biennial Beijing 2004, Emerging Talents, Emerging Technologies exhibition at the Architecture Biennial Beijing 2006, si (Im)material Processes: New Digital Techniques for Architectureexhibition at the Architecture Biennial Beijing 2008.

Linked to the events for parametric and algorithmic architecture, Neil Leach will host a lecture in UAUIM’s Sala Frescelor on Tuesday, 18 May 2010, at 1230h.
Neil Leach is an architect, curator and writer. He has been teaching in some of the most prestigious schools of architecture in the world, such as SCI-Arc, Architectural Association,Columbia GSAPP, Cornell University, Dessau Institute of Architecture, IaaC, London Consortium , Royal Danish School of Fine Arts, ESARQ, University of Nottingham,University of Bath and University of Brighton.
His reseach revolves mainly arround a critical theory of architecture, which goes over its designed limits and goes into a more general cultural critique and is being developed in a series of monografies and volumes that become „cultural readers” for contemporary architecture. These include Rethinking Architecture: A Reader in Cultural Theory (Routledge, 1997); The Anaesthetics of Architecture (MIT Press, 1999); Millennium Culture (Ellipsis, 1999); Architecture and Revolution: Contemporary Perspectives on Central and Eastern Europe (Routledge, 1999); The Hieroglyphics of Space: Reading and Experiencing the Modern Metropolis (Routledge, 2002), China (Map Office, 2004) and Camouflage (MIT Press, 2006).
The second subject on focus for Neil Leach is that of digital design, where he has published a number of volumes and is the co-curator for explicit exhibitions, including including Designing for a Digital World (Wiley, 2002), Digital Tectonics (Wiley, 2004) and Digital Cities (Wiley, 2009), and the exhibitions: Fast Forward>> exhibition at the Architecture Biennial Beijing 2004, the Emerging Talents, Emerging Technologies exhibition at the Architecture Biennial Beijing 2006, and the (Im)material Processes: New Digital Techniques for Architectureexhibition at the Architecture Biennial Beijing 2008.
Currently he is a proffesor at University of Southern California, where he teaches with Kris Mun, Fracois Roche, Manuel DeLanda and Frank Gehry. His activity can be followed on the newly established blog for research in parametric and algorithmic architecture, PARAsite : http://arch-pubs.usc.edu/parasite/.
He is also working on an exhibition on ‘Swarm Intelligence: Architectures of Multi-Agent Systems’ along with Roland Snooks (Kokkugia), which will open in Shanghai on the 14th of July.
